  1. For each cup of tea (8 fluid ounce) – ½ to 1 teaspoon (2 grams) of matcha tea powder is used.
  2. Amount of Caffeine – 34 to 70mg of caffeine, depending on the amount of matcha powder used.

A form of thick matcha tea is known as koicha. Double amount of matcha powder is used to prepare koicha tea. This means that amount of caffeine present in koicha green tea is twice the amount of caffeine present in normal matcha tea.

So, caffeine from Matcha green tea or coffee?

Apart from numerous health benefits of matcha, the tea has also been found to be useful in boosting energy. The amount of caffeine present in the matcha acts as the energy boosters.
